Building the backbone of connectivity across the New West
Intermountain Infrastructure is in the process of building new communications infrastructure across many of the Western States and Canadian Provinces. Our crews are actively implementing new fiberoptic cables across these regions, working hard to minimize disruption to local residents and communities.

Montana Project
IIG is expanding its Montana fiber infrastructure with the installation of a new fiber optic line across the state. The project will increase the availability of high-speed internet in Big Sky Country, offering critical network services to IIG’s clients including local internet and telecommunications service providers.
Washington Project
IIG is currently building a new network across the state of Washington. Targeted for completion in early 2027, this network will breach the digital divide, providing new fiber infrastructure between major data hubs both in and out of the state, enabling service providers with unique connectivity to major interconnection points. Idaho Project
IIG completed our primary west/east fiber path through the panhandle of Idaho, connecting Bonner County to adjacent major data hubs in 2024. IIG is currently completing a 198-mile open access broadband project, between Star and Grangeville, Idaho. This project is a private/public partnership between IIG and the Idaho Regional Optical Network (IRON). This route is expected to be completed in summer 2027 and will expand availability and reliability of broadband services bring significantly increased connectivity to regional service providers along the route. British Columbia Project
IIG’s British Columbia network was completed in 2023, connecting the lower mainland to the US through our crossing point at Sumas. This network enables diverse connectivity between major interconnection points around Vancouver and locations across IIG’s US network footprint. Nevada Project
IIG initiated fiber construction activity in 2021, and currently owns and operates a fiber/conduit system between Reno and several locations within the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. Extensive new connectivity infrastructure construction has occurred between facilities in the area and continues as further digital investments are made in the region. Alberta Project
IIG’s Alberta construction projects are currently limited to the city of Calgary, providing diversity to key clients looking for alternate paths to those previously constructed. Augmenting our current long-haul cross-border network south from Calgary is currently under review. For additional information, please contact [email protected].
California Project
IIG’s 150-mile Bay Area ring has been underway for several years, with the East side of the peninsula completed in 2026. Crews will continue work along the West side through 2026 and early 2027, bringing fiber diversity to the region. For additional information, please contact [email protected].
Illinois Project
IIG’s conduit system in downtown Chicago connects major datacenter locations and was completed in 2021. For additional information, please contact [email protected].
North Dakota Project
IIG commenced construction across the state of North Dakota in 2025 with expected network completion in late 2026. The new 100% buried long-haul network will service ever growing local requirements and connectivity solutions across the Northern Tier. For additional information, please contact [email protected].
Minnesota Project
IIG’s current activity in the State of Minnesota includes construction from Minneapolis westward across the Northern Tier, eventually connecting to existing infrastructure assets in the Pacific Northwest.
